Dr. Noel Chan graduated from the medical school of The Chinese University Of Hong Kong (CUHK) with first class honors and Kan Tong Po Gold Medal for Medical Studies in 2006. She obtained her FRCSEd(Ophth) in 2012 and FHKAM(Ophth) in 2013. She is currently Associate Consultant at Hong Kong Eye Hospital (HKEH) and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of CUHK. Dr. Chan sub-specializes in neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma and low vision. She obtained her overseas training in the United States after being awarded the Li-Po-Chun Charitable Trust Overseas Training Scholarship: Neuro-ophthalmology at Jules Stein Eye Institute (UCLA) with Dr. Antony Arnold, Glaucoma at New York Eye & Ear Institute with Dr. Robert Ritch and Visual rehabilitation at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary with Dr. Mary Lou Jackson. She is now an international member of North America Neuro-ophthalmology Society.
Apart from a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Chan has delivered more than 20 presentations and invited lectures in local and international conferences. In 2012 & 2014, she was awarded outstanding paper awards in the Kowloon Central Cluster Convention. She is the Asia-Pacific coordinator for the low vision invited program in the World Ophthalmology Congress 2016 and 2018, the secretary for the glaucoma invited program for APAO Congresses 2015 to 2017 and secretary for the translational research in ophthalmology invited program for APAO 2018. In 2017, Dr. Chan received the APAO Achievement award and continued to serve in the standing committee in ophthalmic education since 2015.
