Sang-Woo Park, MD, PhD is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Chair of Chonnam National University Medical School and Hospital, Gwangju, South Korea, Dr. Park graduated from Chonnam National University Medical School. He completed internship, residency, and glaucoma fellowship at Chonnam National University Hospital. In 2009, He spent one years at Hamiton Glaucoma Center, University of California San Diego as the research fellow under the direction of Prof. Robert N. Weinreb. He is conducting translational researchs including the role of “Histone deacetylation” in wound healing and retinal ganglion cell survival funded by National Research Foundation of Korea. Dr. Park has published more than 50 papers in international peer reviewed SCI journals regarding neuroprotection for RGC survival, diagnosis of several type of glaucoma and clinical features of angle closure glaucoma. His current research interests lie the investigations of optic nerve head deformation in myopia using diverse imaging studies to explore the relationship between myopia and glaucoma. He is working as an editing director of the Korean Glaucoma Society since 2014.
