Tetsuya Yamamoto has an interest in glaucoma management, normal tension glaucoma, glaucoma surgery, prognosis of glaucoma and primary angle closure. He graduated from the University of Tokyo, School of Medicine in 1979. From 1985 until 1996, Tetsuya was an assistant professor at Yamanashi Medical University and Gifu University School of Medicine. In 1996, he became in Associate Professor at Gifu University and now currently holds the role of Professor and Chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology, Gifu University School of Medicine & Director of the Glaucoma Service.
Tetsuya has held leadership positions as President for the Japan Glaucoma Society, Board member for Japanese Ophthalmological Society, Board member for Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Society and active member of Glaucoma Research Society. Special honors include, Suda Award (Japan Glaucoma Society, 1994), Council Award (Japanese Ophthalmological Society, 2001), Achievement Award (AAO, 2012), Achievement Award (APAO, 2015)
